It’s serving looks!
We had a first look through Toronto’s very first (who knows, it may be the world’s first but we didn’t do the digging) luxury dental office and let us tell you it is serving, in some cases even more than some Toronto “luxury” hotel lobbies. Yup, we said it. Paste Dental is no average dental clinic, like they go on to say, “we are not a copy, we are Paste.” This King Street West dental clinic is truly anything but a copy. It’s original, classy, chic and anything but ordinary–like nothing we’ve ever seen before.
New era of dentistry.
“In [all] my years of private practice in downtown Toronto, I saw every day that my patients were so busy with their hectic lives that going to the dentist was truly the only time in their day that they had to put their phone away and pause. So I thought, why not take that pause as an opportunity to create something enjoyable?” Says Dr. Derek Chung B.Sc (Dent), DMD, who founded Paste along side his life, and now business, partner, Dustin Carrington.
Paste Dental blends advanced digital dental technology, with hospitality-oriented service and a stunning design aesthetic. Like something right out of a magazine.

A release put out by the organization also mentions that they’re committed to minimizing their carbon impact on the environment, and contributing to the local community through various initiatives.
Where it all started.
Paste Dental was born out of Dr. Chung’s dream to change the public perception of going to the dentist. Seeking to rewrite the “traditionally unpleasant dental experience and make it more curated and beautiful,” said a press release by the company. “Going for dental visits should be seen as an extension of one’s wellness and self-care. There are so many beautiful retail and wellness experiences in Toronto. Why has going to the dentist always been outdated? Why has it been such a pass for people?”
“The experience should be charming and well curated in a way that complements and adds to a modern person’s wellness and lifestyle, not an exception to their lifestyle.”

Dr. Chung dove into the psychology of going to the dentist. Studying the different things that make dental visits stressful, and he rewrote the Paste Dental narrative starting with the surroundings. Then bringing on an award winning design firm, Studio Author, to help him modernize the dental experience.
Here’s the VIBE inside King West’s newly launched, Paste Dental clinic:
When you walk in, the warm and welcoming chic design invites you to disconnect from the busy cold, downtown Toronto vibe (much like many metropolitan city cores). The colours and textures are said to have been drawn from Dr. Chung’s own personal home. With the intention of making every visit feel warm and personal, which Dr. Chung says was very important to him. “All five senses of sight, touch, smell, sound and taste have been
thoughtfully considered,” said a company statement.

It’s truly an elevated experience.
From the moment you enter Paste Dental, you are met with a warm Oshibori hand-towel (a wet hand towel offered to customers in places such as restaurants or bars, and used typically to clean one’s hands before eating–long been part of hospitality culture in Japan–served cold in the summer and warm in the winter). The space has beautiful aromatics, and rich colours/textures all aimed to “transform the dental experience into one that is more warm, and relaxing.” While waiting for services, patients can relax in the lounge or use the treatment room as a workstation, and enjoy a drink from their in-house espresso bar.
I don’t know about your dental office, but I’m lucky if I even get offered water at mine.
I mean, look at these details…
Wow.
Cutting edge service.
“No more messy goop and multiple visits! Using cutting edge digital technology in dental care means that Paste Dental is able to deliver superior and more accurate services, such as veneers, night guards, crowns in a faster, cleaner and more sustainable way than your traditional dentist,” says a company statement. We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

Digital dental services available at Paste Dental include Invisalign, cosmetic bonding, veneers, implants, general dentistry and dental cleanings known as Enamel Detailing™. Paste offers immediate solutions for your immediate dental needs. Through digital dental technology, Paste Dental delivers same-day night guards and retainers along with beautiful teeth in as little as two hours, removing the inconvenience of multiple long appointments. Isn’t saving time the ultimate indulgence? We’d like to think so.
No hidden feeds, or added costs.
When you see all the glitz and glam, you can’t help but think… somewhat like an old (annoying) radio ad always said, “who’s paying for all this…?” (you know which one I mean). Well, Dr. Chung and Paste Dental believes that having a curated, well-designed and thoughtful dental experience should be attainable to all, not a luxury. Prices for general dentistry follow the Ontario Dental Association fee guide. Pricing is on par with your regular dentist next door. Choosing Paste means a higher level of service and experience, without any hidden fees, costs, or paying more at all.
Paste is fueled by Dr. Chung’s years of gathered personal and professional insights. He brings together modern dental solutions in a thoughtful way that is personal to him. “As your partner in oral health, Paste is reflective of what a modern Torontonian values in wellness, sustainability and social responsibility. We hope that our values will empower you to reach your oral health goals through an experience that is both beautiful and educational. We are not a copy, we are Paste. Join the new era,” says Dr. Derek Chung B.Sc (Dent), DMD, founder of Paste Dental.
