One of the best parts of living in the 6ix is how the city caters to all different types of foodies. Sweets, savoury, meat, vegetarian, vegan, our Toronto has it all. Especially with more options popping up for vegans and vegetarians in specific. Add to that list Gia, the city’s newest plant-based Italian restaurant.

Gia – Plant Based Italian Restaurant
Run by Jenny Coburn and Stacey Patterson (formerly Ufficio), this new venture is a shift from Ufficio’s pescatarian menu to a fully vegetarian one. While every single dish on the menu isn’t free of animal-based ingredients, the menu is primarily catered to those following a plant-based diet.

Customers can find a selection of plant based appetizers, pasta, salads and desserts. The pasta is housemade and highlights seasonal and local, fresh ingredients daily. One of the must-haves is the Porcini Tortelli. This comes with wild mushrooms, kale and truffle butter. For starters, the vegan crab cakes made from okra or the Baby Gem Salad are a great choice.
The drinks’ menu is an extensive one as well, with options for wine, beer and cocktails. Located at the former Ufficio location on Dundas West, the restaurant offers a spacious indoor and outdoor patio dining space. They are open Monday to Saturday and reservations can be made via Open Table online here.
