Colette Grand Café opens tomorrow and we are excited. Why? Many reasons… but the fact that when you walk by the hip King West hotel Thompson Toronto and are able to spot the gorgeous blue awning and the bright white interior, our enticement has been building for a while. Add to this that Colette Grand Café is brought to us by the same people behind The Chase, and we expect that perhaps a new top Toronto restaurant will grace the West side.
Like Toronto does, it seems when one style of restaurant opens we then see about 10 similar ones open in the months proceeding. In this case, the contemporary French restaurant trend seems to be on the horizon with Cluny Bistro & Boulangerie having opened a couple months ago in the Distillery, as well as the European-influenced bakery/tapas restaurant Portland Variety just last month. Colette Grand Café seems to have similar traits to both of these, but if it follows suit to what The Chase has done, it just may be the new top contender.

With seating for 150 patrons, guests can expect to dine on contemporary French fare in their choice of the dining room, the café, or the covered outdoor terrace. Additionally, a bakery counter with its own entrance is available for local King Westers to drop in or grab take-out from 7am to 6pm. The space is stunning with a classic French café-style décor in hues of blue, white and yellow, as well as big barrel vault ceilings which add a luxe touch to the overall feel. The whole place screams traditional Parisian café.
We predict the highly-anticipated opening of Colette Grand Café will make many very happy. Opening tomorrow (Thursday, July 31st) to the general public, it is located at 550 Wellington Street West on the main floor of the Thompson Toronto. The bakery will open daily from 7am to 6pm, and the dining room will open from 11:30am on weekdays and 11am on weekends. Brunch will be implemented later in the summer.
