If you’d rather spend your Thanksgiving weekend levelling up in Candy Crush or mainlining Scream on Netflix than standing over a hot stove forearm-deep up a turkey’s butt, then ordering in for Thanksgiving might just be for you. Oh, and if you’d rather spend time with loved ones too.
First: ordering in for Thanksgiving is not a last-minute quick-fix. You know how the grocery store is totally out of everything the day before Thanksgiving? Yeah, so are restaurants. But if you plan ahead, ordering your dinner can save tons of time on cooking, and even on dishes. No judgment here if you eat everything straight out of the containers.

Here are a few places around Toronto to consider this Thanksgiving. Expect to spend at least $30 per person. Hey, if you factor in the cost of the groceries, plus the cost of your time for shopping, standing in line, and cooking, it all comes out to about… oh, forget the math. Gorge, you lazy person, you.
Whole Foods
Whole Foods’ catering service has you covered. Order your dinner a la carte and customize the heck out of your holiday meal (who says it has to be turkey?), or order a more traditional dinner with all the trimmings (available for servings of 4, 6, and 8, priced between $89.99 and $229.99) — although you’ll have to order dessert separately.
Old School
Get your Thanksgiving feast prepared the Old School Way. Order from the good people at Old School and receive a 13lb smoked turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, sauteed veg, housemade apple pie, and cranberry sauce that serves 8 for $125. The preorder cutoff date is October 6th and pick-up is October 10th from 12-4pm.
Fairmont Royal York
The Fairmont Royal York is whipping up a veritable feast for you. Enjoy a free range turkey with onion sage stuffing, pan gravy, maple roasted butternut squash and sweet potato bisque, pumpkin tarts with whipped molasses cream and much more starting at $230. The feast serves up to 8 but you’ll need to pick your order up by October 9 between 12-4pm.

Colette
For $46 per person, enjoy a whole roasted, Blackview Farms turkey, turkey leg and mushroom a la creme, mashed potatoes, roasted autumn vegetables, kale salad, stuffing, gravy and your choice of pumpkin or pecan pie. Pick-ups or deliveries can be made October 8 or October 9.
Summerhill Market
Just south of the LCBO headquarters on Yonge is Summerhill Market. While they offer upscale foods year-round, they also provide full Thanksgiving dinners for ordering. A look at their website shows four options starting at $28.45 per person: a traditional turkey dinner, a gluten-free turkey dinner, a beef wellington dinner and a beef tenderloin dinner. Maybe not the best choice for a vegetarian celebration but carnivores can order online as little as 48 hours in advance.
Rose Reisman Catering
Rose Reisman is practically a household name in Toronto, so it’s no wonder they are a popular go-to catering service for Thanksgiving. You can order a la carte or the all-inclusive dinner for $34.95 per person.
O&B Café Grill Oakville
Loyal Oliver & Bonacini’s can take their turkey dinner to go! For groups of 6 or more, get a roasted turkey breast and braised leg, sage bread stuffing, cranberry sauce, savory turkey gravy, buttermilk mashed potatoes and roasted local root vegetables for only $20 per person. Orders will be taken until October 5.
Swiss Chalet
What? It’s good.

Ordering your Thanksgiving dinner saves time, stress, and hey, those Farmville tomatoes aren’t going to harvest themselves. Just remember there is still some labor to be considered. Whoever draws the short straw gets stuck going out to pick up the food.
Happy Thanksgiving!
