Last Thursday we were invited to check out the newly opened Italian eatery Destingo on Queen West. Destingo means “destined to go” and was opened by the beautiful Monika Vacca, formerly half of the inception of famous Italian restaurant Vaticano in Yorkville. It is not surprising that she is at the helm of this lovely restaurant, which she created so friends and family can enjoy casual and delicious Italian dining under the stars. Opened just over one month ago, Destingo is already turning hipster heads with its prominent Queen Street West patio and delicious eats.
Thursday evening happened to be one of the last beautiful nights we may see for a while, and Destingo’s patio was truly the perfect place to spend it. We nibbled on shrimp burgers, homemade meatballs, bite sized tarts, lamb chops and much more making us all want to head back to experience a proper dining experience. The energy of the room was of pure joy, and smiles were abundant. Everyone from VIPs to media to Vacca’s longstanding clients as well as her family and friends were out to celebrate her latest venture. Her energy and passion for what she does filled the room with happiness – this restaurateur is most definitely doing what she was born to do.
The menu is large and offers something for everyone, from salads to pastas to pizza to beautiful entrees. Destingo is opened 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A space that is authentic and simply decorated, it has a very bistroesque feel that makes you want to hang out for hours sipping wine and enjoying antipasto. We actually did just that at the opening party…
