Over the past couple of years, Toronto became a growing hotspot for tv filming locations. I mean its about time directors began to acknowledge that you can film fan-favourite tv series outside of America! Toronto is surrounded by versatility, and I bet you didn’t know these tv shows were filmed across various locations around the city! There are some shows that are widley recognized for their filming in Toronto, like Handmaid’s Tale and Suits but there are plenty of others you didn’t know about!

Hannibal
The notorious Hannibal psychological horror series follows FBI agent, Will Graham as he investigates a series of serial killings, while coincidentally developing a relationship with Hannibal Lecter. If the stag man still haunts you, I feel you…But yes, this stellar show was filmed in Toronto! The FBI headquarters was filmed at The University of Toronto’s Scarborough location, Casa Loma was used for Verger’s Mansion and 73 Simcoe St. was used as Hannibal Lecter’s office!

The Boys
Based on the comic series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, the Amazon Prime Video series, The Boys follows a team of 7 superheroes who are controlled by the business world. The boys, a group of misfits with no powers, come in and try to stop them! The show is set to take place in New York, but its actually filmed here at home! The Vought International headquarters was filmed at Roy Thompson Hall, Hughie’s Electronics was filmed at 871 O’Connor Dr in East York and the infamous A-Train’s race with Shockwave was filmed not too far away at Hamilton’s Tim Horton’s Field Stadium!

Workin’ Moms
This Netflix sitcom series follows 4 thirty-something moms as they navigate their way through balancing work, friendships, love and, of course motherhood. This is such a great series to get yourself into, especially after having a long-stressful day! The majority of the filming sets were filmed at Toronto’s CBC studios, but other locations include, Cabbagetown, the Beaches, and Rosedale, and Leslieville!

The Umbrella Academy is a Netflix series that follows former childhood heroes who have grown apart, but come together to defeat all the evils of the world! This action, adventure and comedy packed series has quickly become a binge favourite among Netlix users! Vanya’s apartment was filmed along Queen St. E., the Meritech prosthetics building was filmed at University of Toronto’s Lash Miller Chemical Laboratories and the Icarus Theatre was filmed at Massey Hall, Elgin Theatre and Mazzoleni Concert Hall!

The Expanse
This sci-fi Amazon Prime Video series, takes places a hundred years into the future where humans have colonized the solar system. The military takes over Mars and they’re on the brink of a war with Earth. This series will have you falling in love with all the main characters! The U.N building was filmed at Toronto City Hall, the Mao Estate was filmed at Parkwood Estates and Gardens and the U.N. HQ offices were filmed at Corus Quay on the Bayfront!

American Gods
Amazon Prime Video is killing it with another Toronto-filmed series! American Gods is a drama series that follows ex-convict, Shadow Moon who gets a job as a bodyguard for Mr. Wednesday. Shadows’ life changes when he begins to discover a hidden America where magic is real. American Gods was also filmed in Oklahoma and Wisconsin, but the Toronto filming locations include, the Motel America which was filmed at the New Plaza Motel in Scarborough. The Haven Glen Retreat which was filmed in the Estates of Sunnybrook and the Peacock Motel at The Old Mill! One of the coolest tv shows filmed in Toronto!
