The Unilever-owned beauty brand, Dove, invites its global community to take a stand against one of TikTok’s beauty filters that has taken the platform by storm. The trending “Bold Glamour” filter digitally adds makeup to the user’s face and alters one’s facial features. Many content creators have called out the risks and harms of such filters and have partnered with Dove as part of a new campaign by the brand.
About Dove’s campaign
Dove invites social media users to post videos using #TurnYourBack, as part of the company’s commitment to #NoDigitalDistortion. This isn’t the first time Dove has pushed for further beauty acceptance, with previous campaigns like #SpeakBeautiful, Reverse Selfie, and #DetoxYourFeed.
“Filters like this create a brand new and unrealistic comparison that blurs the lines of reality and sets a new standard for how we think we should look,” content creator and body confidence advocate, Alex Light, shared in a press release statement. Light also stated that the “Bold Glamour” filter has been used over 15 million times on the platform.

Experts like research psychologist Dr. Phillippa Diedrichs, have also reiterated the impact by filters and selfie-altering video effects. “Research from Dove found that over 1 in three girls with lower body esteem feel they don’t look good enough without photo editing,” she said, according to the press release.
You can join Dove’s campaign by putting up a video turning your back to the filter and including the hashtags #TurnYourBack #BoldGlamour #NoDigitalDistortion.
The brand also has a Dove Self-Esteem Project, which is developed with tools for parents and caregivers so that they can guide kids through social media.
