The month of Pride may nearly be over but that doesn’t mean the celebrations need to stop. The LGBTQ2S+ community is always in need of support and love throughout the year. Dove Hair is doing its part with the launch of a new scripted series on Crave, titled The D Cut. The 6-part mid form series showcases inclusion and positive experiences of beauty through hair, as a means of empowerment and expressing yourself.
The series was written by Emmy and CSA award winning writer, Wendy Litner and playwright Audrey Dwyer. It also features an all-Canadian cast. The D Cut drew inspiration from the true story of an iconic queer hair salon, a safe space that the community fought to save when it came under threat.
A love story may be in the spotlight as well, which involves a fun character played by Keara Graves, actor, singer and YouTuber from Toronto.

Dove Hair and Unilever Entertainment have partnered with Shaftesbury, the team behind global phenomenon Carmilla for the show. The target audience is the younger Gen Z crowd, where the series aims to inspire viewers to create conversation about the importance of the LGBTQ2S+ community. It is also meaningful content for the LGBTQ2S+ viewers and focuses on the importance of self-expression.
The D Cut will exclusively launch on Craveon June 26. It will then run on KindaTV from July 25, 2020, Shaftesbury’s LGBTQ2S+ focused YouTube channel.
