It’s happened, folks. The music industry has witnessed a new historic moment, thanks to Toronto’s very own Drake. The rapper has shattered records to become the first artist in history to surpass a staggering 100 billion streams on Spotify, the world’s leading music streaming platform. I’m sure that saying The 6ix is proud of him would be an absolute understatement. Needless to say, it definitely underscores Drake’s unparalleled reign in the streaming age and his undeniable impact on music fans worldwide.
Drake hits 100 billion streams on Spotify
Kurrco shared a post about it on X (formerly Twitter), which read, “Drake has surpassed 100 BILLION streams on Spotify, making him the first artist EVER to achieve this 🏆”
Unsurprisingly, several comments flooded the post. One user wrote, “He belongs in his own league,” while another commented, “Drake gave a career to Kanye and Kendrick, metro and future and is too much above the Rap Game and it will never change until he retires, even these worst sounds are better than some of your favourite rappers here he just the goat I don’t even need to justify myself anymore 🐐👑.”

Hip Hop All Day also shared a breakdown of the artist’s record-breaking feat. This includes achievements like having more streams than Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Big Sean & ASAP Rocky combined and being the most streamed rapper of 2024 so far with more than eight billion streams.
The global streaming record comes in the middle of Drake’s feud with fellow rapper, Kendrick Lamar. Just back in April, Drake released “Push Ups,” a diss track in response to Lamar’s verse on “Like That,” a song from Metro Boomin and Future’s collaborative albums.
The song is second on Drake’s Spotify of his top five popular songs. “One Dance” ranks number one, with “Family Matters” at number three on the list.
