Last Friday, while my dearest BrendyLoo (aka Mom) and KJ McGee (aka sister) were in town, we took a li’l jaunt over to The Danny to hit up Summerlicious at Embrujo Flamenco. With my non-descript roommate and high voltage bestie also in tow, we downed a couple pitchers of sangria and stuffed ourselves silly with many-a-dish during this retreat to tapas land.
I’d never been to Embrujo Flamenco before – bad Adam! – but adore what the sisters-three (who also own the space downstairs) have done with Pachuco. Needless to say, my expectations were high…and were also highly met. From the fresh flavours to the boisterous atmosphere, the chilled-back decor to the sultry flamenco show, and, again, that fantastic sangria, my four-lady posse and I had the perfect night out.
Tons of restaurants have jumped on the tapas/share plate bandwagon as of late, but oftentimes they fall a little flat. Embrujo Flamenco delivers on a social dining experience that fuses Spanish tradition with Toronto sensibilities, showing up much of its competition. Heading back here would be a delight to say the least…so long as I never have to get up and dance.
