    New Auction Design Exhibit

    January 17, 2020 @ 8:00 pm - 1:00 am

    Free

New Auction is pleased to present This is Some Louvre Shit, an exhibition reception of new work by artist Thrush Holmes, on view as part of DesignTO Festival January 17, 2020.

    THIS IS SOME LOUVRE SHIT

For this exhibition, Thrush Holmes steps away from the flat canvas to explore three-dimensional forms. Retaining his energetic use of colour, Holmes sprays 200 15.5” cubes with recharged fire extinguishers full of heavily pigmented paint. The resulting works will be assembled and topped with neon to create a monumental installation that marries function and aesthetics in the form of a pyramid. Visitors are invited to sit, climb on, and explore the structure.

The individual works that comprise the central installation in This is Some Louvre Shit are part of a series of unique editions by Thrush Holmes titled Cube. Created exclusively for New Auction, Cube is a usable sculpture: part art, part furniture. The first 60 collectors to purchase a work will receive two invitations to a private preview with the artist catered by Don’s Restaurant on Friday, January 17, 6:30pm.

Cube will be available for purchase online through New Auction’s website starting January 7, 2020. Limited number of Cubes available!

The event is 19+ and is sponsored by Ace Hill Beer and Don’s Restaurant
