Polotechnics: Kamran Sadeghi with Milch
May 19, 2023 @ 10:00 pm - 2:00 am
$20Link Music Lab presents Kamran Sadeghi, New York City-based Iranian composer, record producer, interdisciplinary artist and event curator with Milch, Toronto-based DJ and promoter Laura Schütte, delivering two live sets. Sadeghi attributes his diverse work to his use of sound as a sculptural material as he straddles the worlds of minimal tech-house and installation art. As a lover of all things off-kilter/leftfield, Invisible City Record Shop team member, Invisible City Presents, and Invisible City Radio programmer Milch brings her eclectic mix of wavy, industrial, synth and 1980s oddities. For the fourth instalment of Polotechics, Sadeghi will be playing a club set steeped in techno, house, IDM and electronica, and Milch will serve up an array of unexpected, edgy dance-worthy sounds.
Polotechnics shines a light on international and local artists from the Iranian diasporic underground, shifting and broadening perspectives of Persian electronic music. From high-energy dance beats to contemplative sound art, Link Music Lab’s new series invites a range of genres such as EBM, electro, techno, acid and all things synth. Polotechnics is a portmanteau of “Technics”, the Japanese brand name for a line of high-end audio equipment, the game of polo, an Iranian invention and the Farsi word for rice, also polo, aiming to nourish the soul by expanding perceptions of Iranian electronic music.
Link Music Lab gratefully acknowledges the generous support of Canadian Heritage.
