Our July cover star Fefe Dobson is hitting the road with her “Shut Up and Kiss Me” tour

Multi-platinum artist Fefe Dobson and our VIBE cover star is going on tour across Canada, with stops in cities like Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, Saskatoon, and more. Watch her perform new music in a Canadian city near you. Fefe has released exciting new singles from the explosive “FCKN IN LOVE” to the heartfelt “Recharge My Heart,” and most recently, the bold and energetic anthem “HUNGOVER.” Returning to her roots, Fefe’s new music echoes the raw spirit of her earlier albums, seamlessly blending angsty lyricism with unapologetic punk and rock influences. The latest single, “HUNGOVER,” showcases this fusion perfectly, with its fierce live-recorded drums driving the energetic production.

The rise of international artists such as Willow Smith and Olivia Rodrigo, with their popular rock-infused pop anthems, has undeniably reshaped the musical landscape for the younger generation. This shift in music has not only opened doors for emerging talents but also paved the way for pioneers like Fefe to be rediscovered and celebrated for the groundbreaking work they laid down. As NYLON Magazine astutely pointed out, “Dobson inspired Black alternative kids who saw themselves in her.” Fefe’s influence extends even further, with notable artists like SZA acknowledging her impact, listing Fefe’s music as an inspiration for her chart-topping album SOS. There is a revival of nostalgia in contemporary pop music, and Fefe’s heartfelt lyricism and edgy pop/rock sound, reminiscent of the early 2000s, are on the verge of resurfacing and making their mark in the 2020s.

In early 2022, Fefe made her return to music with her catchy pop anthem ‘FCKN IN LOVE’ which climbed to the top 15 on Canadian radio charts, followed up by the buzz single ‘Recharge My Heart’ in late fall of the same year. Fefe now readies her new album, inspired by different eras of her own music catalogue to pay homage to her influences over the years and really celebrate her own legacy in the alt space as a BIPOC female artist.
