As a child, my sweet tooth had a hold over me. A little sugar cube sat on my shoulder and taunted me with dreams of overly sweetened tea, shortbread and shiny bars of Cadbury’s chocolate. As I’ve gotten older, I’m more of a slave to the savoury. Cured meats, cheese, steak, a perfectly constructed pizza… I’ll take it all. But my child self still resides somewhere in my psyche and an offer to top cupcakes on a Saturday afternoon is enough to haul my hungover ass out of bed!
So off Nicki and I go to ‘Le Dolci’. And as the studio is located directly in my neighbourhood, the walk helped me shake off my hazy head! ‘Le Dolci’ is located in owner, Lisa’s beautiful condo at King and Portland. We sat at an intimate table of 8 with teacher, Kat, at the helm and off we went with mini rolling pins, fondant and lotsa food dye!! FYI… for anyone who may think this is an easy craft, it ain’t… we had 12 cupcakes to top and both Nicki and I were racing to the finish line!!
The best part??? Getting to eat Lisa’s deliciously moist cupcakes, even if our toppings left a little to be desired!!! ‘Le Dolci’ is the perfect girly get together, corporate team builder or just something to get your baker’s juices flowing!!!
