With temperatures hitting the double digits, I think it’s safe to say that spring is in full bloom – and what better way to celebrate the warmer season than a new fresh fragrance? I for one have two go-to perfumes: one for fall/winter, and the other for spring/summer. Perfumes and fragrances help keep me in a good mood; did you know that our scent sensory is also directly associated with our memory? Think about it: Is there a certain scent that reminds you of someone, or a favourite childhood memory? That’s because the brain’s olfactory bulb (oh yeah, we’re getting scientific here) is connected to both the amygdala (the emotion center in the brain where an ‘odour’ department lies) and the hippocampus (where some memories are stored).
So it’s definitely important to switch up your fragrances with the seasons. In the colder months, opt for scents that are warmer and heavier with hints of amber. During the warmer ones, choose a perfume that’s on the airier side with floral and citrus tones. Jasmine is a great scent for the summer; it’s cooler than other florals and is a touch more fruitier, which is perfect for a hot summer’s day. Here are some excellent seasonal scents…
Rosabotanica, Balenciaga
With citrus notes and touches of experimental rose and fig leaves, this fragrance is perfect for a hot date. It’s powerful but not overpowering. Spray this romantic scent on your neck, inner wrists, and the back of your knees for an aroma that will be sure to last the entire night… and then some!

Roses De Chloe, Chloe
You can’t get any more floral than this flirty fragrance from Chloe. It’s packed with fresh cut roses and bergamot, and it truly comes off as a feminine scent. Though this fragrance does have notes of white amber, it is on the lighter side, making it a great spring perfume.
Daisy Delight, Marc Jacobs
The classic Marc Jacobs Daisy get’s a fresh and fruity update with Daisy Delight. This playful edition is filled with floral notes like iris and gardenia, and is bursting with fruity scents like apples and raspberries – great for brunch with your besties.
Searching for the perfect scent can be a struggle, but remember that if you are testing out perfumes, let the fragrance truly settle on you before you jump to any conclusions. Also, if you are smelling a few dozen perfumes, take a breather between scent tests and sniff a container filled with coffee beans to reset your palate. Happy hunting!
