Summer event season is in full swing – why just last night the VTV team was seen out and about at five different functions – and there’s no shortage of glitz, glam, and guzzling (we like the booze-fuelled nights here at HQ) for the discerning party-goer. Here are five June events you simply cannot miss, dahlings…
The Power Ball
The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery’s annual shindig is one of the finest spectacle-style events in the city. This annual throwdown of all things artistically charged – going down June 6th at the Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery at Harbourfront – wants you to experience your 15 minutes of world fame, made possible by interactive online installations that will be streamed globally. Look for drinks, dancing, exhibits, and more at this 1,500-attendee evening.
Scrubs in the City: BLOCK PARTY
Also on June 6th, Sick Kids’ annual Scrubs in the City takes over Brick Works for a badass block party. This event, while not only supporting a fantastic cause, is one of a handful of upper-echelon soirees attended by a vibrant mix of Toronto’s elite. This year, expect “neighbourhoods to collide” in a consortium of food frenzy, booze beauty, musical medley, and cultural conviviality.

Big Bang Bash
We’re saving festival festivities for another post (stay tuned, Toronto), but Luminato’s pre-fest stand-alone, the Big Bang Bash, will be one for the books. On June 8th at the ROM, the Big Bang Bash – Luminato’s inaugural fundraiser – proffers an exclusive first-look at Viktor&Rolf’s Dolls exhibit (created especially for this year’s festival), cocktails aplenty, and one hell of a classy party post-gala-attendee dinner.
3rd Annual TSO Tailgate
Not much for sports at VTV, we’ll still get down n’ dirty any night of the week for a tailgate. The TSO Tailgate and Late Night Concert on June 15th outside Roy Thomson Hall includes all-you-can-eat eat fare from food truck stars Gourmet Gringos and Pretty Sweet’s mobile cupcakery, happy juice from Steam Whistle, Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, and Crazy Uncle’s culinary cocktails before the TSO’s late night playing of the first movement of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade. All this is followed by, you guessed it, more partying, where the revelers will be joined by electro-pop artist Digits.
The SMUT Soiree
Celeb gossip peddler Lainey Gossip brings her trademark charm and insider scoopology to Brick Works on June 25th. With Dan Levy in tow, the SMUT Soiree is a night dedicated to the game of the gab, where you’ll get to mix and mingle with celeb treatment while hearing all about certain celebs’ latest ‘treatments’.
