FoodShare’s annual charity event, Recipe for Change 2014, took place on February 27th at the St. Lawrence Market’s North Building. The charity helps support FoodShare’s vision of “Good Healthy Food For All,” which is a cause we can get behind.
Founded in 1985, FoodShare aims to address hunger and food issues within communities by launching sustainable food-based initiatives to help end these problems. What’s incredible about this non-profit organization is that their goals are being met and results are being seen. Through their numerous programs and initiatives, they have successfully been able to reach over 159,000 children and adults per month in Toronto alone.

I had the opportunity to attend their annual Recipe for Change event last week and I was just in awe. With 30 chefs, 20 VQA wines and 6 local beers, I knew this would be an incredible tasting adventure. I had reached the venue by 6:15pm and was totally shocked to see how many people had come to support the cause. After coat check, I received an empty wine glass and cutlery so that my culinary ventures could begin.
From exquisite Indian desserts from 416 Snack Bar and the freshest oysters I’ve ever had courtesy of Hooked, to delicious edamame boat salads from the AGO’s Frank Restaurant – there was a plethora of delectable treats to choose from. There’s nothing better than good food, good wine and even better company – and all for a good cause.
