I think it’s finally safe to trade our winter jackets for bathing suits and boots for sandals because summer is officially starting here in The 6ix. That’s right folks, take this as a sign of summer because the Toronto beaches are finally opening this weekend. Whether you’re hoping to lay outside and soak in some rays or take a plunge into the lake or even dance on the beach, now is your chance.
Toronto’s Beaches open this weekend
Although you can technically visit Toronto’s eleven beaches at any time of the year (remember the winter strolls along Woodbine Beach?), their official opening date is this Saturday! On June 4th you can finally visit a beach in Toronto and see a lifeguard on duty…oh the joys of summer in The 6ix.
You can expect to see a lifeguard on duty from June 4th through to September daily from 10:30am to 7:30pm. Beach facilities will also be operating under the same daily hours.

Be sure to look out for a blue flag before diving in to ensure the water is safe for swimming. You can check beach water quality on the city’s website starting in June. The city also recommends only swimming while a lifeguard is on duty.
