Honestly, I won’t say that I’m lacking in the lip fullness department. Truthfully, it can be both a blessing and a curse — but I’ll spare you my sob story. The quest for fuller lips can often be daunting. There are so many options, it’s hard to know where to begin. My advice: keep it simple. Makeup has made so many strides that it’s not necessary to turn to expensive and invasive cosmetic procedures. I’d bet that Kim Kardashian’s contour routine alone caused some cosmetic surgery cancellations.
Line and Gloss
If you’re aiming for an Angelina Jolie-Pitt-whatever-approved pout with minimal investment, turn to lip liner. Pay particular attention to your lower lip – place emphasis on the centre of your bottom lip to give the look of increased volume. Use a liner that is at least a shade or two darker than your lipstick to create a defined look. Finish with gloss so that its reflective nature will make your lips look like showstoppers.

Bold Shades
Contrary to popular belief, size isn’t always the only thing that matters. If you’re looking for a little bit of lip drama, don’t be afraid to go big — with colour. Speaking from personal experience, some bright shades can make larger lips look like solar flares. Smaller lips can embrace bright shades to draw attention to the mouth without being too garish. Don’t be afraid to break out a bold red, coral, or pale pink. If you’re uber adventurous, try something in a non-traditional shade like blue or lavender. Tattoo-turned-makeup maven Kat Von D’s Studded Kiss Lipstick comes in a variety of adventurous shades, including Coven (a matte lavender).
Project Plump
For those who’d rather opt for something with more tangible results, there are a variety of over-the-counter lip plumping serums to serve your needs. Plumping products often use natural ingredients like cinnamon, ginger, or menthol to act as mild stimulants to cause the lips to become fuller — albeit temporarily. It certainly beats taking a needle to the face, in my humble opinion. After inquiring at my local Sephora, I was informed that Lip Injection by Too Faced is the go-to lip plumper du jour.
