Toronto is introducing a new food week and we think it’s awesome! GlutenFreedom Week launches this year from May 25th to 31st and will allow people who can’t eat gluten to indulge in some of Toronto’s best restaurants. Built like the Summerlicious/Winterlicious programs, GlutenFreedom Week is working with Toronto restaurants to offer patrons a 3-course prix fixe gluten-free menu over the course of that week.
How many of us know people with Celiac or serious gluten allergies? These days, being gluten-free is not only healthier, but also necessary for so many people. This initiative started by gluten-free blogger Rachael Hunt, is a welcome event in a time when dining out is such a trend yet so many can’t indulge due to gluten allergies. The goal of this week is to increase awareness of gluten-free dining in the culinary world and to showcase the restaurants that are already offering some great gluten-free culinary creations.

Some of the participating restaurants include Habits Gastropub, Fishbar, Insomnia, Little Anthony’s (which FYI is Italian!), Estiatorio Volos, Mildred’s Temple and many more. Hunt is aiming to have 25 restaurants participate in the program so gluten-free diners have some fabulous options to choose from. Hopefully GlutenFreedom Week is so successful in its first year that we watch it grow over the next few!
For more information, or if you are a restaurant that would like to participate, you can contact Hunt directly or see the website.
