As Torontonians, we sometimes take our waterfront for granted. Yep, I said it! Although we may enjoy the views and take a few strolls along the waterfront, when was the last time you actually got out on the water? I’m talking boating, paddleboarding, kayaking…when was your last adventure? If you can’t remember, then this list is for you. No need to drive out of the city to enjoy the water this summer! Thanks to the Toronto Waterfront BIA, we have a roundup of five ways you can get out onto the water.
Boat Memberships
Ever dreamt of having a boat in the city but can’t quite commit to the purchase yet? We’ve got the solution for you! Skipperi, which is enjoying its first summer in Toronto, offers monthly subscriptions from May through October so you can enjoy the water without a boat of your own! Skipperi offers access to a new, fully equipped, smart fleet of motorboats without the hassle of ownership, making boating accessible for everyone. You only pay during the boating season and book your boat on their easy-to-use app! Where do we sign??
Paddleboarding, Canoeing and Kayaking
There’s really no need for a cottage anymore when you can get your paddleboarding, kayaking and canoeing fix right here in the city! If you’re ready to hit the water, head over to Harbourfront Canoe and Kayak Centre and try something new this weekend.

Tall Ships
It’s time to venture out from the typical Toronto weekend adventure and try something new. Why not board Kajama, a traditional 165-foot, three-masted Schooner boat cruise that sails daily from the waterfront? You could also check out Empire Sandy, Canada’s largest sailing tall ship! Whether you’re interested in daytime or evening sails, there’s something for everyone!
Yachts
Turn your dreams of sailing around The 6ix in a yacht into reality! Toronto Yachts offer vessels for anywhere from 8-100 people so you can check out the harbour with a small group or host a party or gathering! You could also sail around the city with Gone Sailing Adventures‘ fleet of yachts this summer! Gone Sailing Adventures has private or shared sails, shared sailing events, a sailing school and boat rentals.
Water Taxis
Are you even a Torontonian if you haven’t been on one of the city’s water taxis? Look no further than Toronto’s Tiki Taxi, T Dot Water Taxi or Pirate Taxi to travel from the city dock to the Toronto Island shore. Services are available from 10 a.m. every day!
