With Thanksgiving around the corner – literally – I’m sure I’m not the only one looking for unique hors d’oeuvre recipes to impress my guests. Well, last week Stella Yu of www.FoodJunkieChronicles.com and I were invited to check out a new Toronto showroom… a shortbread showroom! Officially, it’s called the Coach House Shortbread Showroom and it’s the newest endeavor for Carl Stryg, who has been creating unique varieties of shortbread since 1986. 25 years in business impresses me – but then when I discovered the varieties of shortbread he creates and the way he pairs them with wine and turns shortbread into an upscale hors d’oeuvre that I was blown away!
I was on a detox so was sadly unable to taste some of the cocktail shortbread, however I am headed back there this weekend to pick up some varieties that will surely impress my Thanksgiving guests! I’m totally gonna copy what they served that night…. Imagine the toppings you can put on these flavours:
- Stilton & Rosemary
- Walnut & Bella Vitano
- Gorgonzola & Pistachio
- Cheddar & Chipotle
- Spicy Asiago & Garlic
The Coach House Shortbread Company Showroom is located at 235 Carlaw Avenue
