We’re gearing up for some big news late this week (stay tuned), so our #Instaweekend was a little… lacking. But nonetheless, we still got out to taste the city a bit. Here were our quick stops this weekend…

Knowing that I’d be spending the majority of the weekend lurking around our site’s backend, I grabbed some happy-go-lucky breaded shrimp tacos from The Big Fish on Queen West. This small joint does simple fish and seafood delights proper. (Look at all the freakin’ toppings!)
Saturday morning, again getting ready for a day of work, I decided to start a li’l late so I could grab some deliciousness with a friend over at Smith. This has to be one of my favourite brunch joints in the city. I’ve yet to be disappointed by their amazing scones (which change each time you go)…

… or their awesome brunch offerings, like the brisket and hash with pico de gallo. Pure salivation.
After a day and night of absolute tedium, Sunday morning I was craving just a traditional breakfast like mom used to make. Or at least, close to it. Church Bistro was the back-up to planned point of action Lola’s Kitchen. Not too shabby, and satisfied my craving…

Jason started the weekend celebrating his friend’s participation in Harry’s Spring Run Off (supporting Prostate Cancer) near High Park with a Caesar at Kennedy Public House.
Of course, being the foodie he is, he couldn’t resist having their pulled pork sandwich with encurtida (cured) onions, an awesome “chopped romaine” (essentially a really great Caesar) salad with hearts of palm, roasted artichokes, fried capers, asiago, parmesan tuille and crispy prosciutto. Looks tasty…
To cap off the weekend, he headed to The Stockyards in search of some ribs. They may have run out by the time he arrived, but the butter burger with bone marrow, blue cheese and red wine butter, crispy fried onions and butter lettuce alongside some of the city’s best fries were more than an adequate substitution. Rich and heavenly.
