I’m still feeling a bit worse for the wear after the Saturday that was, but when you’ve spent the majority of the weekend eating and drinking and trotting about, you take the headachy war wounds with pride. Here are the spots that lured us in this weekend…

Saturday morning saw a familiar fave in the form of dim sum delights. I actually don’t remember the name of the restaurant we went to, suffice it to say it’s likely my new preferred dim sum-ery thanks to these little bad boys: Pineapple BBQ Pork Buns. ‘Nuff said…
After successfully cramping up with too many Chinese eats, Nicki and I met for some work-related shopping and some non-work-related drinking at Le Select Bistro. The patio there…? Come on! Feels exactly how I’d imagine a Parisian cafe’s terrace would.

Saturday night was spent out and about for a friend’s BDay festivities, starting at Carmen. Biggest upset: they were out of the fried artichokes! But, we made do with eats like the Patatas Bravas (same aioli as the artichokes, FYI)…
…the Sandia comprimida con Crocante de Jamón Iberico (read: compressed watermelon cubes with ham chips)…
…and of course, some of the best paella in the city: the Paella del Carmen. This is the one to order when you head to this Queen West hotspot.
The rest of the night is a bit of a blur, as we went from QW to Dundas West for drinks at Magpie, then over to Kensington to melt away in the overheated Augusta House for BWS, and I finally wound up at Cold Tea for a final nightcap.

Sunday morning = yawn. I successfully managed to push any plans until later in the day, starting with a couple cold ones while catching up in a backyard then winding up (naturally) at The Combine Eatery where I got a taste of their new Southern Flatbread. Pulled chicken, Andouille sausage, tons of arugula… I’m considering this a healthy end to my unhealthy weekend.

Ms. Nicks was back at Rock Lobster on Queen Saturday morning for brunchies. She ordered up what looks like the city’s sexiest Caesar…
…before grabbing the famed Lobster Roll…
…followed by what looks to me like Matt’s Cowboy Corn (at least that was the name being used when he served it up at Abbey’s Kitchen Stadium last month)…
…and a Lobster Taco. If you should know anything about Nicki, it’s that, to her, lobster is like an aphrodisiac for life.

Her afternoon was spent with yours truly, and her Saturday night was all BDay celebrations as well, taking her and a busty brood over to Salt Wine Bar for a bit of class on Ossington.
She spent Sunday at the Spa at the Four Seasons (lucky gal!), before dinner at dbar, where she got to have some Fried Artichokes (likely sensing my lack of the nosh the night before)…
…and the Chop Chop Salad with (you guessed it) lobster…

…and, of course, the famed Madeleines. A fancy close to a first-class weekend.
