Yonge and Eglinton is about to get a beautiful facelift. Freed Developments has chosen world-renowned designer Karl Lagerfeld to design the lobbies of their upcoming Art Shoppe Lofts + Condos at Yonge and Eg. Along with Lagerfeld’s involvement with institutional fashion houses like Chanel and Fendi, he’s also been known to let his creativity reign in his own house. The Art Shoppe will consist of two buildings of 28 and 12 stories, each of which will have a lobby designed by the style legend.
This project marks Lagerfeld’s first significant move to the Canadian market, and he’ll be working with the developers of the Art Shoppe Lofts + Condos in addition to architects Architects Alliance and Cecconi Simone. In true Lagerfeld style, he hopes to enter Toronto’s design scene with a bang. Tonight, he will kick off with “Lobbies by Lagerfeld” to launch what the developer’s team hopes will become a cultural landmark in the city.
“What I really like is what I’ve never done before,” says Karl Lagerfeld. “I am always looking for opportunities to expand my range of creative expression, and am excited by the opportunity to design this in Toronto, Canada, as part of the Art Shoppe Lofts + Condos. I’m excited to be part of the CD Capital & Freed approach to the Art of Change.”
