Last month, Kensington Market welcomed a sweet new bakery to their eclectic streets. Blackbird Baking Co. is the laborious fruits of head baker Simon Blackwell, David Castellan and Cynthia Leung of SOMA, as well as April Bloomfield and Ken Friedman of The Spotted Pig. It is truly where baked goods meet innovative flavours and deliver bread heaven. From hand-kneaded and freshly baked baguettes and focaccias, to scrumptious breakfast delights and sugary pastries, Blackbird Baking Co. is just what carb-addicts in Toronto have been waiting for.
A little heads up: this bakery has no room for people on diets or those with gluten-allergies (no offense).

For updates on all things Blackbird Baking Co., be sure to follow them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (where you’ll find drool-worthy images, natch). Once you’ve indulged in their freshly-made sourdough baguettes, you’ll be heading back for seconds and thirds (as if the smell of baked goods upon entrance wasn’t enough to lure you back in).
Blackbird Baking Co. is located at 172 Baldwin Street. Monday to Saturday from 8am to 7pm; Sundays from 10am to 6pm.
