Beyoncé gave us Sasha Fierce, David Bowie gave us Ziggy Stardust and now Bruno Mars has introduced his fashion designing alter ego: Ricky Regal. Created for the release of his first-ever lifestyle clothing collection, Lacoste brings the world of Ricky Regal to life through Ricky Regal X Lacoste. The retro collection combines passionate, enigmatic flair with Lacoste’s iconic blend of sport and luxury.

“I’ve been very fortunate to have been asked to do collaborations in the past, but it
always came with guidelines,” entertaining mogul, Bruno Mars stated “Lacoste was the first and only brand that said ‘Bruno you can do whatever you want.’ The respect of such creative freedom coming from a heritage fashion house was an honour.”

The collaboration began with discussions over two years ago, and it was Lacoste’s creative director Louise Trotter who managed to seal the deal. Trotter acknowledged Mars’ great attention to detail and the clear vision he had for the collection. “From concept
to fittings, there wasn’t a single aspect that he was not fully involved“ Trotter mentioned.
Ricky Regal X Lacoste brings a modern touch to the iconic ’70s retro style with apparent inspiration from Miami nightlife. With Lacoste comes sports luxury, so among the ready-to-wear, accessories and footwear are the classic tracksuits and polo shirts, but with a unique flair. Highlights from the collection include groovy patterns, velvet polos and the iconic Lacoste crocodile logo with a stylized “Ricky Regal” font. The vibrant lifestyle of Ricky Regal is evident through the colour palette of strong yellows, greens, purples, reds and tie-dye. Silk, cotton and velvet materials create the fluid vibe of the collection.
“When I’m on stage my name is Bruno Mars. When I’m making lavish luxurious
garments, I go by Ricky Regal.”
