If you’re a dessert lover, then you’ll never have a shortage of options when it comes to sweet treats here in Toronto. Whether it’s croissants, buttery danishes, éclairs, macarons, and more there is something to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth. Toronto embraces global flavours and treats from all corners of the world as renowned brands bring their exquisite creations for Torontonians to try. One of these brands is Ladurée, a French luxury patisserie founded in Paris known for its macarons. There are currently two stores here in the city one at Yorkdale Shopping Centre and the other at the Exchange Tower. The brand is continuing to expand by opening a laboratory space as well.
About Ladurée’s new laboratory
The opening of the laboratory will be run by executive pastry chef Alexandra Launay. Having worked with Ladurée since 2010, her previous experience includes her work as head pastry chef at Ladurée’s laboratory in London and also worked as a pastry chef at Ladurée Paris. While she worked in London pastries and cakes were prepared for four locations including Ladurée Harrods.
“Our team of expert pastry chefs will be working with the best locally sourced ingredients to create our world-famous offerings freshly made from scratch each day for Ladurée’s Toronto locations,” Launay said in a press release statement.

The new Toronto location will have the same pastries and cakes found in Ladurée’s Paris locations. This includes cakes like Marie Antoinette, Ispahan, Saint Honore, Millefeuille, Ladurée croissants and other viennoiseries. There will be selling ice cream as well, all of which will be made daily from scratch.
“Ladurée’s exquisite patisserie products must be prepared only by Ladurée’s own pastry chef at a specifically designed and equipped laboratory according to Ladurée global standards,” said Olesya Krakhmalyova, owner of Ladurée Canada.
This is the brand’s second Canadian laboratory for the brand, their first one is in Vancouver. The menu items will be available for pick-up or delivery within the GTA. The opening date for this new space is July 12.
