Toronto’s nightlife scene is ripe with unique places and renowned bartenders, and it’s getting a little bit of extra attention these days, in the form of a viral bartender at one of the city’s most unique spots. Lauren Paylor, made famous on Netflix’s Drink Masters, will spend a weekend in November pouring cocktails and concocting recipes as a guest mixologist at BarChef.
About BarChef
Owned by expert mixologist Frankie Solarik, BarChef jumped onto the Toronto bar scene in 2008. The intention was clear from the outset, to create a unique space and cocktail bar with a program that had yet to be seen across the globe. The cocktail is taken to the next level, elevated with the philosophy a chef would utilize in his kitchen, combined with state-of-the-art mixology equipment and techniques cultivated and made better by global experiences.
Essential oils, fresh ingredients and Instagram-worthy presentation come together at one of Toronto’s most buzzworthy cocktail bars. A selection of different programs, from Overture and Parfumerie to Modernist, ensure that every kind of cocktail connoisseur gets the experience they are looking for at BarChef.

Recently, Solarik and the BarChef team launched a selection of to-go cocktails, all of which can be preordered with the cocktail bar’s famous cocktails or customized for friends and family.
About Lauren Paylor
Hailing from Washington, D.C., Lauren Paylor is an award-winning mixologist who competed in the inaugural season of Netflix’s Drink Masters. On October 28, Paylor was crowned the winner of the first season, after curating the cocktail program for The Emmy Awards in August. She is at the helm of a wide range of projects, including a Cocktails & Comedy program that tours North America, as well as a consulting company called LP Drinks & Co and works with Focus on Health, both of which focus on safe spaces, diversity and inclusivity in the cocktail industry.
About the event
On November 27 and 28, Lauren Paylor will join the BarChef team and show off her skills on the wood, becoming a guest mixologist for an exclusive appearance. The event will offer an exclusive menu, in collaboration with BarChef’s bar manager Gianluca Passuello and executive chef Lionel Duke. The regular menu will also be on offer, and reservations can be made on the website through OpenTable.
This is a historic moment for Solarik and the BarChef team, as it’s the first guest shift at the cocktail bar since its inception over ten years ago. The event takes place from 5 pm to 2 am on both nights and is sponsored by Patron Tequila. The event was originally announced on Instagram.
