Toronto is full of some of the world’s best dining spots. From Michelin Stars to prestigious awards, we’ve got it all. Liberty Entertainment Group was recently honoured by Wine Spectator’s 2023 Restaurant Awards. The award celebrates the world’s best restaurants for wine and has been awarded since 1981. This year, all of Liberty Entertainment Group’s restaurant properties have been recognized for their stellar wine programs.
Wine Spectator Restaurant Awards
The Wine Spectator Restaurant Awards represent the world’s only program focused exclusively on restaurant wine service. The awards are assigned on three levels: the Award of Excellence, the Best of Award of Excellence and the Grand Award, with 2,001; 1,411; and 93 winners this year in each respective category.
“In a time of technological innovation, restaurants offer the human experience diners are hungry for—listening to their customers and offering personalized experience,” said Marvin R. Shanken, editor and publisher, of Wine Spectator. “Our annual issue celebrates the places where wine is at the top of that conversation. I’m pleased to congratulate the restaurants for their dedication to wine and wine-loving diners.”

Liberty Group’s lineup of restaurants in The 6ix are nothing short of spectacular. With Don Alfonso 1890, BlueBlood Steakhouse and Cibo Wine Bar, it’s no wonder Liberty is being acknowledged. Don Alfonso 1890, the Michelin-starred fine dining star, has won the Best of Award of Excellence, in addition to the company’s award-winning BlueBlood Steakhouse, located in Toronto’s historic landmark, Casa Loma. Best of Award of Excellence recipients are noted for displaying excellent breadth across multiple winegrowing regions and/or significant vertical depth of top producers, along with superior presentation. The company’s three locations of Cibo Wine Bar (Yonge Street, Yorkville and King Street West) were named with the Award of Excellence, recognizing restaurants whose wine lists feature a well-chosen assortment of quality producers along with a thematic match to the menu, in both price and style.
“We are honoured to be recognized across all of our properties for our comprehensive wine programs by Wine Spectator, the world’s leading authority on wine,” said Nick Di Donato, president and CEO, Liberty Entertainment Group. “It’s thrilling to be celebrated internationally for our commitment to offering the very best pairings for our different menus, and these prestigious awards once again underscore our dedication to continuing to provide exceptional world-class dining experiences in Toronto.”
