New York City’s Meatpacking District has come alive with the iconic art of Yayoi Kusama through her new Louis Vuitton collection. The pop-up space, which officially opened up to the public on January 6th, puts this gorgeous, modern collection on display with over-the-top imaginative ambience and décor.
What to expect at the Louis Vuitton x Yayoi Kusama pop-up experience?
Yayoi Kusuma is famous for her “infinity rooms,” and this pop-up is definitely a nod to those installations, with chromatic mirror spheres and floor-to-ceiling infinity dots. Just like her art exhibits, this is definitely meant to be a completely immersive experience, with guests entering a world where modern art, fashion and interior design collide in unique ways.
The collection and the pop-up spaces are meant to give you that wow factor to inspire creativity and, of course, buzz on social media. Art aside, visitors will also find exclusive ready-to-wear pieces complete with shoes, accessories and fragrances. And those who are unable to make it to Gansevoort Street, in the Meatpacking District, may be in luck; there’s another pop-up in Soho! The collection will also be available to view at the Soho pop-up location to coincide with the global launch.

The collection
This is the second collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Yayoi Kusama. At the heart of this collaboration, is the blending of the creativity of Yayoi Kusama and the savior-faire of Louis Vuitton. The new collection reinterprets Louis Vuitton’s classic pieces with the artist’s iconic polka dots, infinity dots, and some of her other signature motifs. Each piece uses an innovative technique, applied by hand, one-by-one, to reproduce Yayoi Kusama’s brushstrokes, giving it a realistic hand-painted 3D effect. You can discover the new collection here.
