If you’ve explored the Toronto restaurant scene you’ve definitely visited at least one of Matty Matheson’s spots in the city. From Matty’s Patty’s to Maker Pizza, Matty has blessed Toronto with some amazing restaurants and we do not take him for granted. In case you were hoping to experience a Matheson restaurant with a whole new vibe, you’re in luck as Prime Seafood Palace, Matty’s newest gem, has just opened its doors. The location is unlike anything Matheson has done in the past and we are absolutely here for it.

If you’ve been to any of Matty’s restaurants, you’ve likely been greeted with a warm environment and delicious food but you probably haven’t experienced anything quite like Prime Seafood Palace which opened late last week. Not only is this seafood gem equipped with a menu full of delicious and aesthetic plates but the interior design is unlike anything Toronto has seen from Matty before.
In an interview with the New York Times, Matheson details that his inspiration for the restaurant was thanks to “old-school stalwarts like New York’s Peter Luger” as well as for his childhood love of The Keg.

“It’s a juxtaposition in what people perceive me as versus what they’re going to walk into,” said Matheson to NYT. “I’m 40 now, and Prime Seafood Palace is a very mature, beautiful, thoughtful restaurant.”
Matty apparently asked architect Omar Gandhi to create “an airy wood cathedral” and it appears as if that is exactly what was done. After years of designing and planning, this gem is finally open to the public.
If you’re interested in experiencing this new restaurant for yourself, you can reserve a table here Tuesday to Saturday between 5:30 PM to 11:00 PM.
