This Women’s Health Week, Medcan brings a vital topic to the forefront: menopause. Often shrouded in misunderstanding, menopause is a natural transition that every woman experiences. That’s why Medcan has been shedding light on this essential phase of life, providing women with the knowledge and resources they need to navigate menopause with confidence and ease.
Medcan’s raising awareness about menopause for Women’s Health Week
Women’s Health Week starts every year on Mother’s Day, running from May 12-19. It was launched to bring women’s health issues to the forefront and raise awareness. Even to this today, there’s a lot of taboo and stigma surrounding multiple issues, when it comes to both mental and physical areas of health.
According to a recent survey from Medcan, one in five (18%) of women 30+ have very limited knowledge of menopause and perimenopause. The number goes up to 38% amongst younger women aged 30-49 who are most likely either experiencing or nearing menopause.

Additionally, 87% of women aged 30+ believe that menopause and perimenopause are two issues that aren’t highlighted properly in media and public discourse. This means there is a higher chance of misinformation being spread, which leads to further stigmatization of the subject matter.
Medcan helps and supports women going through this with its Menopause and Perimenopause Program. The six-month-long program comes with different hormone and blood tests, a wellness assessment, nutrition and fitness analysis and more. It can be tailored to include a set of hormonal treatments if needed. But non-hormonal treatments are also available to help make the menopause journey a more comfortable one.
Dr. Jennifer Zelovitzky, Clinical Director of Women’s Health and Vitality at Medcan, also talks about how it could help to see a menopause specialist.
