Toronto, get ready to claim another pop culture moment—because Meghan, Duchess of Sussex (formerly Markle–yes, of Suits), is back on our screens, and she’s giving the city a little love in the process. Her new Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, just dropped, and while critics are already sharpening their knives, there’s something oddly mesmerizing about it. Is it cringey? Yes. Do you still want to keep watching? Also yes.
A Toronto love letter (sort of)

In the first episode, Meghan reunites with her longtime friend and celebrity makeup artist, Daniel Martin—a name that should ring a bell for anyone obsessed with beauty. He’s not just any MUA; he’s the man behind her wedding day glow and the artist she met during her Suits era in Toronto. The two reminisce about their time in the city, where they first bonded over beauty and life on set. It’s a brief but sweet moment that reminds us of Meghan’s deep-rooted Toronto connection. And honestly, we’ll take the shoutout.
The critics have entered the chat
Unfortunately for Meghan, the critics have been far less warm. With Love, Meghan is already being roasted for feeling overly polished, lacking authenticity, and (ironically) being a little too much about, well, Meghan. It’s a curated peek into her “lifestyle”—one that blends high-low fashion, mindfulness, and perfectly arranged tablescapes. If you’ve ever wondered what early-era Martha Stewart content might look like if filtered through a Duchess’ lens, this is it.

That said, we can’t pretend it’s not entertaining. The same way you might side-eye a friend’s over-the-top Instagram aesthetic but still scroll through every post, this show somehow keeps you watching. It’s aspirational yet awkward, polished yet painfully self-aware. And isn’t that kind of the Meghan Markle brand at this point?

Meghan’s high-low fashion moment
Meghan makes a point to highlight her love of mixing high and low fashion—something she’s done for years. In one scene with Mindy Kaling (who’s draped head-to-toe in Valentino), Meghan casually calls out that she’s wearing Zara trousers with a Loro Piana top. Is it relatable? Not exactly. But it’s a reminder that she still wants to be seen as the “down-to-earth” duchess who loves a good high street find… even if it’s paired with a top that costs as much as rent.
So, should you watch it?
Look, With Love, Meghan is definitely not winning over the critics. But if you go in expecting it to be more of a glossy lifestyle diary than a hard-hitting documentary, there’s a certain guilty-pleasure charm to it. Whether you love her, love to hate-watch, or are just here for the Toronto nostalgia, it’s worth pressing play—if only to see what kind of curated coziness Meghan’s selling next.

Toronto may not be her home anymore, but at least we got a little nod. And hey, if Daniel Martin ever wants to do a Toronto pop-up, we’ll be first in line.

Netflix confirmed: Back for Season 2
And it seems, the Duchess just announced there’s a season 2 in the works last week and Netflix just confirmed it last Friday. So despite the haters, With love, Meghan has not only been green lit but just finished shooting season 2.
Do you think it will be back for a third? Is Meghan en route to becoming the next Martha? We’ll have to wait and see.
