As much as I hate on the modern influence of technology, although creepy I love any music recommendations I get from online generators. A few months ago, through YouTube, I came across the British pop singer Foxes. The first music video I viewed was for the song “Let Go For Tonight,” and I was instantly hooked. It’s a white party with shots of Foxes singing that gets demolished by a vibrantly coloured food party that ends up in a natural valley setting. Foxes is a little gap-toothed, long-haired cutie pie with a voice quite the opposite. Eventually, I realized that she’s the sweet and powerful voice behind the track “Clarity” by Zedd. If you love that song and don’t know who Foxes is, then I’ve given you some digging to do! Her music videos are a great place to start… the song “Holding Onto Heaven” and the title track off her debut album, “Glorious,” are both beautiful and fun; a great introduction to Foxes.
Although new to myself and many in North America, Foxes first started her musical career back in 2011. Since then, she’s toured with Marina and the Diamonds, has had recognizable music placements, and, of course, was the voice of the song “Clarity,” which won the 2013 Grammy for Best Dance Recording. All summer Foxes has been playing music festivals across Europe, but after the success of her debut album, Glorious, I have no doubt she’ll be coming to North America later this year or early next. There’s something special about Foxes’ voice and music, and I really believe that she has the potential to leave a strong impact in the industry.
