Everyone’s talking about… the 6ix
Juice factor: 10/10
If you thought the Grammys and the BAFTAs were actually the biggest events of the week, then you certainly weren’t anywhere near the 6ix (psssst, for those living under a rock, that’s what people are calling Toronto now, and by “people” we mean American airport security and border patrol who’ve adopted the nickname imposed by hometown boy Drake to ask us questions about where we’re from. Seriously. “The 6ix” is officially real). Drizzy’s efforts to bring the NBA All-Star game to his home turf paid off. Not only was everyone from Snoop Dogg and Dwayne Wade to Kobe Bryant and Olivia Wilde to Kevin Hart and Sting in town for the star-studded event, but the Degrassi alum turned biggest rapper in the world also played host to a VIP-only party Saturday night at “the House Of Tings,” which is not exactly a new club but just the interim moniker given to a fancy-ass pad in the Bridle Path. Like a good host, Drake provided some tunes and invited local hotties like America’s Next Top Model alum Winnie Harlow who became fast friends with Kanye West’s scandal-loving ex, Amber Rose. There was even a real owl there, but meanwhile and more shockingly, elsewhere in the city, Snoop Dogg hung out with Canadian reggae star, Snow–earning their friendship the nickname “SnowDogg.”
The thigh gap everyone’s talking about
Juice factor: Size Zero
The Grammys are usually the time of year when Taylor Swift gets to have an audience dance and sing-along party with her BFF du jour (welcome back, Selena Gomez, btw!) and try out her latest batch of excited/surprised/shocked/stunned/totally dumbfounded looks she’s been practicing all year. We say this only out of love–it’s the gossip lover equivalent of tuning in to see the lighting of the Rockefeller Christmas tree. While Tay-Tay also got to open the Grammys this year in a killa black-sequined body suit before picking up a couple major trophies of her own that allowed her to diss on-again, off-again T-Swizzle hater Kanye West, it’s sad that her thigh gap already seems to have gotten more attention for its complete lack of content. She was skantily clad most of the evening, rocking cropped tube-tops like her midriff was allergic to all fabrics, but it was her theatre-curtain-esque red carpet look that had tons of fashion critics and peanut gallery enthusiasts talking about her thigh gap. Even comedian Amy Schumer’s Instagram post from the same night seems to be a little cryptic, no?

Kim Kardashian explains how to tape your boobs for the red carpet
Juice factor: Double D
Sure, maybe she’s only married to the music, but that has never stopped Kim Kardashian from attempting to steal the limelight during other people’s time to shine. The new mom took time out of her reality show-filming schedule to do an Instagram post featuring her own set of knockers to show off how to properly tape your boobs for the red carpet. But, Kim–anyone who’s anybody is taping their thigh gaps now, gurl. We kid! (Or maybe not–but still!) The truth of the matter is that the nearly nude taped boob photos Kim shared were actually taken a couple years ago, and we tend to notice Mrs. Kardashian-West posting a lot of throwback pics to her more slender days whenever she announces she’s on a diet. The reality star is currently attempting to rid herself of 70 pounds of baby weight gain.
Blind item: Sexual assault allegations shake up the “who’s who” again
Juice factor: 10/10
No, we’re not talking about the Jian Ghomeshi trial. We might not even be in the aftermath of the high-profile CBC scandal and court case drama regarding the former Q host, but there’s currently another high society Canadian about to face sexual assault allegations in a very public way. The times, they are a changin’.
Leonardo DiCaprio’s new leading lady?
Juice factor: 8/10
Leonardo DiCaprio won his first ever BAFTA on Sunday for his starring role in The Revenant, but the rumour mill is, of course, more interested in the other golden trophy he may or may not have gone home with on Sunday night. The American heartthrob might be sweeping the “Best Actor” category during awards season for the first time en route to the Oscars, but he made more headlines this week for photos taken of the star seemingly getting up close and personal with blonde bombshell BAFTA presenter Laura Whitmore at an after-party for the awards show at London’s Rosewood hotel. According to The Sun newspaper, The Revenent star allegedly asked Laura to go back to his room at the hotel after whispering in each other’s ears at the post-BAFTA event. That hasn’t stopped from more rumours circulating that the actor hosted a hotel room party for another blonde–model Roxy Horner–and her friends. Jeez, get a type already, Leo.
Canada rocks the Grammy Awards
Juice factor: 7/10
Scarborough’s own The Weeknd went home with some serious Grammy wins on Monday night, which thankfully means Drake isn’t the only one putting “the 6ix” on the map for our neighbours to the south. Perhaps more significantly, he went home with one of the hottest women attending the awards show for the latest and greatest in music… Bella Hadid. Although Toronto’s own Lainey Gossip has gone on record calling Bella’s Grammy Awards 2016 ensemble just an attempt to look like “a Kardashian” (ouch, Lainey, ouch), we thought Bella looked pretty smokin’ for a not-so musical audience member.

Blind item: Actress not-so impressed with Toronto’s “Mean Girl” behaviour
Juice factor: 9/10
Toronto’s still getting used to the fact that America’s actually paying attention to it now. While the city has finally evolved past the Rob Ford stage of international interest, Toronto socialites still haven’t seemed to have adjusted to the type of consciously well-behaved social decorum that keeps cocktail circuit enthusiasts out of the gossip rags for less than flattering reasons. New Yorkers and Hollywood are used to the idea that anybody could be watching and leaking information at any time, but that still hasn’t exactly registered in the 6, leading to a high-profile actress recently talking smack about the cold reception she received specifically from women in our stereotypically kind Canadian city.
Justin Bieber’s attempt to display good boy behaviour continues
Juice factor: 6/10
It’s kinda hard to believe that Justin Bieber won his first ever Grammy Award on Monday night–your major awards should always out-number your mug shots. That said, the Stratford native is clearly trying to make himself more likeable to the powers that be below the border–even bringing his lil’ bro to the awards show as his red carpet date for the evening. The party didn’t stop there for the Biebs though, who hosted an after-party attended by the likes of Khloe Kardashian, but we gotta admit to preferring the bad boy turned good.
