Born and raised in the GTA, Rj Barrett was the 3rd overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft. In just two seasons, he’s made quite a name for himself playing #9 for the New York Knicks. At only 21, RJ is also a member of Team Canada and to say the least, he’s killing the game.
Last season he averaged 17.6 PPG, 44.1 FG% in a total of 72 games. If that isn’t impressive, I don’t know what is. Not only is RJ showing up on the court, he’s giving back off the court to his community. We got a chance to speak to RJ about the successful opening of his own Booster Juice and launching his charity, The Barrett Family Foundation.

Grand Opening of Brampton Booster Juice Location
Rj is a Booster Juice ambassador and franchise owner of the newest location at 9055 Airport Road in Brampton. The location opened its doors on September 9th and because of RJ’s pre-season training in New York, he was unable to attend. Although, on opening day the location was swarmed with family members and people from the community.
Rj says that his family has always led a healthy lifestyle and having a Booster Juice franchise is the perfect way to support that mission in the community.
“I can remember as a kid going to the Booster Juice on Financial Drive in Mississauga
before and after my games and it’s special to think that my Booster Juice is where other
families are going to be able to make those same kinds of memories,” Rj said.

“My family and I truly believe in encouraging Canadians to live a healthy and active lifestyle, and through this partnership with Booster Juice we can further strengthen our commitment to that mission. As both an ambassador and franchise owner, it’s truly an honour to bring a Booster Juice to my hometown,” Rj said.
About The Barrett Family Foundation
Rj started the Barrett Family Foundation and he says it means everything to him. In 2020 they were able to donate 200,000 meals to the Mississauga Food Bank. The pandemic was hard on many and Rj wanted to make sure people in his community were being supported through such a hard time.
The foundation runs an annual leadership camp for kids throughout the GTA. The camp provides kids with every day tools they need to succeed in life and prepare themselves to make smart, future decisions.
“For the past two years, we have had to do the camp virtually, but we are hoping to continue to build on it and hopefully have it in person in the years to come. At the end of the day, it is all about being able to empower my community and I want to help kids feel empowered to continue to make positive changes here,” Rj said.
Looking Forward To The Upcoming Season…
Rj is currently completing his pre-season training in New York and is ready then ever for the season to start. He says the Knicks were able to establish an identity last season and he’s looking forward to hitting the court with the new faces they brought into the group during the off-season.
