If you have the travel bug but aren’t up for hopping on a plane, why not explore Ontario on a weekend getaway from the city? If you’re from Toronto it’s likely you’ve already visited Niagara Falls at least once in your life, but regardless of if you’ve seen the falls in the past, it’s worth a second visit with their most recent upgrade!
Niagara Falls just got an upgrade
If you were considering a weekend road trip to Niagara Falls from the city, this is your sign to go! The falls recently received an upgrade with a new tunnel that will allow you to experience the falls in an all new light. It’s true that the falls were already stunning enough as they span across the Canadian and US borders standing at 187 feet tall!
The epic falls have been a staple for Canadians and tourists alike whether you’re visiting the city and staying a while or simply doing a day trip to see the falls themselves. Although you have been able to get up and close and person with the waterfall on the boat tours offered, this is the first time a unique viewing platform has been built!

The new upgrade features a glass-paneled elevator that will take you 180 feet down beneath the Niagara Parks Power Station. There you’ll be able to discover a 2,200 foot long tunnel under the Cathedral of Power. Talk about an epic photo op, am I right? At the end of the tunnel you’ll find a viewing platform which offers access to views of the lower Niagara River, the Horseshoe and the American Falls.
The power station was once abandoned and neglected but is not transformed into a historic museum! You can visit The Niagara Parks Power Station every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Regular admission is $28 for adults and $18.25 for children, or $37 for adults and $24 for children for those who want a full guided tour.
