I have apparently acquired an obsession for coconut oil since my trainer told me it’s the best oil to use for digestion and weight loss. Thing is, that’s not all coconut oil is good for. It has many uses outside the kitchen that will keep you shining bright, even in your 40s!
I was recently out with a friend complaining about my dry hair and constant breakage. She suggested I use coconut oil because her mom used to make her do this and her hair always came out smooth and shiny. So I tried it and it worked. Then I started reading about all the other ways coconut oil can be used and now it’s my new favourite moisturizer, hair mask, and hair smoother.

First, the mask. As easy as can be, just put a dollop of coconut oil in a bowl and then microwave until melted but not boiling. Massage it into your washed hair, wrap it overnight and wake up the next day with seriously soft hair. If you don’t want to do the mask, you can also just use the coconut oil in its normal texture on the ends of your hair. It will smooth out the split ends and even help prevent new ones. Be careful, though. Use it sparingly otherwise your hair will get too oily and nobody wants that. Start small and add more if needed.
I also started using it on my body and under my eyes. It’s amazing to smooth out the soft lines around my eyes as well as my dark circles because it’s such a powerful moisturizer. You need only a tiny dab and it goes a really long way. You can thank me later for saving you money on all those expensive eye creams!
In terms of body, it makes your skin as soft as a baby’s bottom. Again, be careful with portion control – just use a dab and rub it into your skin. Then put a bathrobe on and let it sink in before getting dressed otherwise it will get all over your clothes. You may smell like coconut, but your skin will glow and feel like silk.
