It’s that time of year again…Yes, TIFF time. Parties are plentiful, socialites and fashionistas are swarming the streets and us media people go into a no-sleep schedule. One of my favourite parties to attend is the TIFF kick-off party hosted by the queen of PR, Natasha Koifman, owner of NKPR. First off, it’s always hosted in her home, which is one of the most beautiful homes I’ve seen in Toronto. Second, she likes to have fun so the theme is usually very entertaining and always ties into the food she serves. This year it was apparently all about FUN – who needs the CNE when you get to enjoy fun food (and cocktails) in Natasha’s beautiful backyard?
Hashtagged #DoubleFeature, the main sponsors were RW&Co who had murals of their best looks all around the backyard and SKYY Vodka who was serving some delish cocktails. As we entered the property, an ice cream truck greeted us…pretty cool from the get-go. I chose to skip the ice cream truck and headed straight for the SKYY Vodka bar – obviously. My drink of choice was Skyy vodka and elderflower soda water by Bottle Green – oh my it was yummy and I had three…oops. Then we entered the beautiful backyard where I noticed all the small touches that make Natasha’s parties more special than most others.
If you’re reading this, you probably want to know about the food and the vibe… So first off, Food Dudes was catering. Love them. Period. They served mini grilled cheese and had a nacho bar set up which I absolutely loved. I think Toronto needs a nacho bar where we can make our own nacho creations – wouldn’t that be cool? Just putting it out there. More fun food being served were bags of Kernels popcorn and Tiny Tom’s donuts – who also had a “make your own donut” bar set up. Honestly who can ask for anything more?

The vibe was obviously really cool – all the guests were dressed to the nines and media coverage was plentiful. Photographers, cameras were everywhere. Like I said, this is one of my favourite TIFF parties of the year and I admire Natasha enormously. As a woman entrepreneur, seeing her success in the last 10 years is inspiring and motivating.
And, as usual, her TIFF 2012 kick off party was a huge success and we had a blast!
