If you’ve ever headed towards the Toronto Pearson Airport, you’ve likely seen their gleaming red Sheraton logo. You can’t miss it. The Sheraton Gateway Hotel is literally a hop skip and jump from the airport, at terminal 3.
You can’t get any closer…nor more convenient. Providing Toronto Pearson Airport travellers, especially those with early morning flights, a smoother start to their travel experience. We’ve all been there…especially if you’ve traveled during major holidays, or most recently during the pandemic. You have a morning flight, and need to be at the airport 3 hours prior. Meaning, you need to get up several hours prior to that–like 2 or 3am)–just to be on time for an 8am flight. Let alone a redeye at 5 or 6am. Which for many of us (if you’re anything like me), meant staying up right through the night to avoid the slim chance of sleeping through your alarms. More than often leading to an edgy, maybe even frustrated, start to your day, that truly just gets your trip (whether for work or pleasure) off on the wrong foot.
Kickstart your vacation with a stay at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel
I know I know, you’re probably thinking… but like, hasn’t this hotel been around for ages? Well yes, it was built back in 1991, but has had several renovation upgrades through the years, with the most recent being just last year.

The newly renovated, Sheraton Gateway Hotel: A $30-million makeover
The hotel upgrades are part of a global transformation by the Sheraton brand that include 3 Canadian Sheraton properties and 22 globally receiving similar extensive renovations. The Sheraton Gateway Hotel, at the Toronto Pearson International Airport, is the first in Canada to roll out this new look and feel.
The Sheraton Gateway Hotel renovation (at the Toronto Pearson International Airport) includes 467-newly renovated rooms, 17-suites, a new lobby, refreshed meeting and dining spaces, and an upscale club lounge. A facelift does wonders — and the Sheraton Gateway Hotel’s recent renovations definitely succeed in adding a new sex-appeal for guests of all walks. Dare I even say…for local Torontonians that aren’t even planning to take a flight? I wouldn’t rule it out.
The Rooms
Super comfortable, spacious and relaxing. You’re oddly so close to all the action at the terminal, it feels like you’re sleeping in it…minus the noise because you can hear a pin drop in the rooms. We quickly settled in, relaxed, and grabbed our robes to head out and check out the pool and steam room (which is open 24/7).
The Amenities
From the epic pool, to the hot tub, steam room and gym, to the club lounge, sound proof meeting/call rooms, meeting spaces, and even private dining areas.

The Restaurant/Bar
The food came out piping hot and super fast. When the server says don’t touch the hot dish…listen. It’s for your own good — or you’ll learn the hard way, like a friend of mine did. The ribs are a must, and the breakfast served in the Club Lounge is hot, fresh and super tasty (even better than the Plaza Premium airport lounge breakfast).
The VIBE
Very laid back. Great food and service, and above par cocktails. We were there on game night so it was a little loud in the main bar/restaurant area which led to us quickly pivoting to the Club Lounge area where we had access to order from the same menu. The crowd is very mixed, bringing together people of all walks of life, but I would say it was predominately adults.
Dreaded all nighter trips to the airport, before a morning flight, no more
I don’t plan to ever spend a sleepless night before a flight again. A stay at the hotel was truly life changing. Kickstarting your vacation or work trip on the right foot, resets your mood, and gives you a fresh perspective to tackle the trip at hand vs. being miserable, zombie like walking through the terminal to get through security and HOPE that you can make it to Tim Hortons by your gate in time to spend nearly an hour in line just to be told they don’t have eggs for your breakfast sandwich due to a supply chain shortage…when instead, you can be getting up from the comfort of your hotel room, to quickly shower and make your way down for complimentary breakfast in the club lounge before walking across the drop-off area to the terminal. I’ll never do it any other way… first world problems, I know, but if you value your sleep, state of mind, and convenience it’s the obvious choice.
A one-night stay (or more) at the newly reimagined Sheraton Gateway Hotel at the Toronto Pearson International Airport, is the way to go. Whether you’re just looking for a new place to do a quick staycation and take advantage of the Ontario travel tax credits; or finally bite the bullet and do some international traveling, the Sheraton Gateway is the way to go.
All a swift walk away from Terminal 3, or a quick ride on the Terminal Link trains to Terminal 1, you’ll be there in minutes. Pro tip: Just make sure to figure out which direction you’re going before hopping on any given train, to avoid spending time going in the wrong direction.
