It’s your time to shine! The beloved Canadian singer, Shawn Desman, has just announced that his team is in search of women to be featured in his new music video. In partnership with Knix, Desman will be shooting a video for his upcoming single ‘Love Me With The Lights On’ and is looking for women to shine the spotlight on. Video Casting Call
On June 14, Shawn Desman announced on his story that in partnership with Knix, he is holding an open video casting call for his upcoming music video. He details in his story that “When I sat down to write ‘Love Me With The Lights On,’ I wanted to write something empowering; that reminds people that they’re perfect as they are. No matter what you look like, whatever colour your skin is—you are perfect!”
The video will highlight and shine a spotlight on women with an effort to convey a message of beauty to everyone. Although Desman is attempting to honour beauty in all women, he notes that the song is ultimately dedicated to his wife. He notes that he wants her to know that “I want to see all of what she considers her imperfections, because to me, they are what makes her beautiful!”

How to Apply
If you’re interested in applying to be featured in the video, you’ll have to make sure you can be in downtown Toronto on June 26 and July 6. If you can be in the city on those days, you’re eligible to apply!
The online application asks for your name and contact details as well as a recent selfie and a 30-second video of you describing why you want to be in the video.
It’s important to note that the application ends with questions regarding your comfort with posing in intimates, bra size and underwear size. Although it is not specified, it can be assumed that as the video is in partnership with Knix and meant to empower women, members will likely be posing in their intimates.

Shawn Desman
We all knew and loved Shawn Desman in the early 2000s but didn’t hear much from the famous Canadian singer for the latter half of the 2010s. Luckily for us, last year Drake featured Desman in his All Canadian North Stars concert at OVO Fest. Not only was Drake in awe of his performance but the crowd went wild. That was the night Desman made a comeback and we couldn’t be happier.
In an interview with CBC after the concert, Desman described his interaction with Drake when he got off stage, “He goes, ‘Do you understand what you just did up there? The people love you. Your music still lives on to this day. What are you doing?’ And I said, ‘Drake, man, just life happens. Stuff happens. And I kind of lost the love for this,'” said Desman. “He’s like, ‘Squash all that. Shawn Desman — I’m telling you — Shawn Desman needs to make music again.’ And he changed my life that night.…”
Although the ‘Love Me With The Lights On’ release date has yet to be announced, we can expect it to be released sometime later this year.
