Whether you made it the end of the 87th Annual Academy Awards to see Birdman win big or turned off the broadcast when Lady Gaga decided to debut her latest transformation into Julie Andrews (Madonna apparently wasn’t working for her anymore), you at least saw your favourite celebrities walk the red carpet in their best couture. We wouldn’t miss it for the world — here’s a look at Vv Magazine’s Oscars 2015 Best and Worst Dressed List.
Last night, Hollywood’s biggest and most important awards show of the year took place in Los Angeles. To be honest, the 2015 Academy Awards — the 87th installation of the prestigious Hollywood event — weren’t as grand or as awe-inspiring as we had hoped they would be. Host Neil Patrick Harris was alright (he was no Ellen, that’s for sure), opening the show with a controversial ‘white’ joke in reference to how the Oscars 2015 nominees were the ‘whitest’ they’ve been since ’94. He also did a bit from Birdman (which may have alluded to the film’s big and polarizing win), and had an ongoing joke involving Octavia Spencer keeping an eye on a briefcase that got tired before it even got off the ground.
Though NPH was just okay, what was more than brilliant was Patricia Arquette’s speech in which she talked about women’s equality and equal wage for all. Oh, and we can’t forget John Legend and Common’s emotional and tear-jerking performance of their Oscar-winning song, Glory. Also, can we talk about how freaking weird John Travolta is?! Did anyone else cringe while he was caressing Idina Menzel’s face and making Scarlett Johansson uncomfortable?
