Whether you’re looking for a new hotspot to wet your whistle or you’re a drink snob looking for the next big thing, these over the top cocktails are sure to impress.
Toronto is a hotspot for well-poured drinks, from the homemade liquors at Little Sister to the boozy concoctions at Cold Tea. If you’re looking for over-the-top libations to cross off your bucket list (think tiki bowls and towering Caesars), look no further than these bars to wet your whistle.
Whether going out for a drink or sticking around for ten more, here are some of the most outrageous drinks you can order in the GTA this summer.

BarChef
472 Queen St. West
At BarChef, the objective is to push the boundaries of what’s expected of an average cocktail. All of their infusions, bitters and syrups are made in house and many of their unique concoctions topped with dry ice for added allure. While BarChef cocktails are on the pricier side (drinks range from $15 to $30), bar snobs would agree they’re well worth the price.
The Porch
250 Adelaide St. West
A favourite of dudes in suits cutting loose after their nine to five, The Porch boasts one of the best rooftops in the financial district. Order a margarita – it’s served in children’s bucket and topped with a Corona, just for a good measure.
Harlem
67 Richmond St. East
Realistically, this drink is just as well suited to Architecture Digest as it is to Bon Appétit. Their $19.50 ‘Bloody Jerk’ starts with all the usual Caesar offerings, but is topped off with not only the usual celery or extreme bean, but basically an entire meal. On top of the Caesar are a precariously perched chicken, waffle, fried okra, and pickle.
Hunter’s Landing
82 Fort York Blvd
If you’re still in the craving for Harlem and can’t make it to Harlem, swing by Hunter’s Landing to get your Caesar fix. To top off their $16 Caesar is a butter poached lobster tail, sliced smoked mozzarella, chorizo & bacon, and if that’s not enough, a slice of cheese pizza.

The Shameful Tiki Room
1378 Queen St. West
Step into Queen West’s Shameful Tiki Room with two or three friends and you’re in for a real treat. The Mystery Bowl is a secret concoction of juices, rums, and spices served in a massive ornate bowl. When you order it, the drink it brought out by ringing a large gong and all staff heralding it over to you. Oh, it’s also on fire.
The Carbon Bar
Charcoal infused margaritas may sound like the least appealing thing you ever did hear, but don’t knock it till you try it. The charcoal gives the usual acidic colour of a margarita a blackish tone, but still packs a limey punch.
Miss Thing’s
1279 Queen St W
The Fuzzy Wawa isn’t just your ordinary daiquiri – it’s served in a freshly cracked coconut. The drink itself is a nice twist on your traditional sickly sweet daiquiri – the coconut bitters and coconut lemongrass give it a bit more edge.
Bar Reyna
158 Cumberland St
If you’re looking for that perfect Insta shot, order up a “Her Royal Highness” at Bar Reyna. The vodka and Rum drink is mixed with cardamom, saffron, and almond syrup and served in a rose gold pineapple. It’ll run you back $30.
