To say 2014 was tumultuous would be an understatement. Just here in Toronto alone, we experienced the bitter and embarrassing end of the Ford era only to see the Jian Ghomeshi scandal put us back on the international map as a city that might not have its shit together, even if our film festival rocks. Fortunately for us, people like Kim Kardashian will always bare their naked bums for no reason at all, turning the spotlight momentarily away from own missteps and most humiliating moments. And she wasn’t the only celebrity who made undeserved headlines in 2014. The news never plays out quite like any of us would like, which is why all of us here at Vv Magazine put our heads together to retrospectively take a look at the events, people, places, trends, and things that were either worthy of more attention than they actually received, or were seriously over-inflated in their pop culture value.
