It’s officially the most wonderful time of the year, and what better way is there to kick off the fall season than to visit a pumpkin patch and pick your own pumpkins? Don’t fret if you live in the city, there are several pumpkin farms and patches in the GTA just waiting for you to visit. Get cozy in your favourite fall sweater, zip up your boots, and let’s go pumpkin picking.

Here’s where you can go pumpkin picking in the GTA
Murphy’s Farm
In Alliston, Ontario, Murphy’s Farm runs its own fall festival that runs from Sep 21st to Oct 31st. You can buy tickets to their festival which includes access to their pumpkin patch where you can pick your pumpkins. The tickets also give you access to their corn maze, wagon rides, and more. The farm is open from 9 am to 5 pm every day and tickets are $7 per person. If you don’t wish to pay an admission fee you can purchase a pumpkin from their market.

Andrew’s Farm Market & Winery
You can pick your pumpkins at Andrew’s Farm located in Milton. If you walk in the fee for ages 6 – 64 is $16.50 + HST, but if you purchase online the fee is $15 + HST. It’s $12 + HST for people over 65, but if you purchase online it’s $10. Children under 5 are free.
Hutchinson Farm
Hutchinson Farm in Burlington is a family-run business that all started with a strawberry patch in 1942. They have every type of pumpkin you can imagine, including classic, but this is the place to go if you’re looking for a funky display. They offer white pumpkins, green pumpkins, grey pumpkins, pumpkins covered in warts, and pumpkins that don’t look like pumpkins at all. Their website reads, “Possibly the most amazing selection of pumpkins you’ll ever see,” and they’re not joking. This one is for the true Halloween and autumn fanatics. If you want the coolest porch display on your street, you need to check out Hutchinson Farm, open Tuesday- Friday 9:00 am-6:00 pm, and Saturday and Sunday 9:00 am- 5:00 pm.
Brooks Farms
Brooks Farms in Mount Albert has been in business since the mid-1800s and will be open for both pumpkin and squash picking. You can spend the day leisurely strolling through the fields and searching for that perfect pumpkin, or you can have a day jam-packed with activities. The Fun Fall Festival has been a tradition of Brooks Farms for over a decade and runs every weekend this year from September 7th– October 27th. Don’t miss out!
Knox Pumpkin Farm
Knox’s Pumpkin Farm is tucked away in the peaceful countryside of Hampton, Ontario, just a short drive east of Toronto. The farm will be open from September 28 to October 31, with tickets for the 2024 season coming soon.

Pingle’s Farm
In Hampton, Ontario, Pingle’s Farm offers pumpkin picking in October as part of their Harvest Festival. To access the fields, guests must purchase a general admission ticket. From Tuesday to Friday, visitors can enjoy a quieter experience at a discounted rate, though there is no live music, and the event area’s food stations are closed. However, food is available in the bakery and café inside the main market. Weekday tickets include access to the pick-your-own areas, wagon rides, playland, animal area, and corn maze. On weekends, tickets also grant entry to the exclusive Harvest Festival food and drink area, live music, and picnic table seating.
Reesor’s Farm Market
Reesor’s Farm Market in Markham is another family-run business with roots dating back to 1804. They are open for pick-your-own pumpkins from Sep 13 – Oct 31, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm and Saturday from 9 am to 6 pm. You can walk in on weekdays but reservations are required for Saturdays and Thanksgiving Monday. For $45, you can fill an entire wheelbarrow with the pumpkins of your choosing. Adult admission to the farm is $7, children 5-12 are $3.50 and children under 5 are free. They also have a corn maze, stunning sunflower fields, and a bakery specializing in gluten-free goodies.
Albion Orchards
Just outside of Toronto is Caledon’s Albion Orchards. The farm has been around since 1967 and has been featured in Chatelaine for being one of the best apple orchards in Canada. Pick your own is only available on weekends and holidays. The farm is running on a first come first serve basis and is open from 10 am to 5 pm on weekends. They ask that you please bring cash to decrease wait time when busy.
Dixie Orchards
Dixie Orchards in Caledon is another pick-your-own pumpkin venue, but they have a unique selling point; they grow hazelnuts, which you can also pick yourself. Pumpkins are .40 per pound, and hazelnuts retail at $8 per pound. Tickets are $6 per person and give you access to the whole farm, including fun activities like the corn maze and the wagon rides. They operate with an online reservation booking system, and walk-ins are only accepted if they have space. They’re open daily from 10:00 am-5:00 pm until Halloween day.
PumpkinFest at Downey’s Farm
Located in Caledon, Downey’s Farm is known for its annual PumpkinFest. PumpkinFest starts from Sep 21 – Oct 31. Tickets must be purchased online, there are no tickets available in person. Enjoy live entertainment, go through the corn maze, check out the farm animals and more. Tickets for adults on weekdays are $17.99 and on weekends they are $24.99. The farm is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm.

Their farm store and pumpkin area in front of their barn do not require an admission fee and are free to visit to purchase a pumpkin. They do not have a pick-your-own patch, but you can pick a pumpkin from their yard area.
