This fall, Holt Renfrew opened their first menswear-only location at 100 Bloor West, aptly titled Holt Renfrew Men. However, this does not mean that their flagship at 50 Bloor Street West has stopped catering to gentlemen. Quite the opposite, in fact! The menswear department has been completely redone, offering Holt Renfrew customers access to more contemporary, international designers. If you read between the lines, they’re trying to get the younger crowd in and move away from that stuffy department store image. We can get on board with that!
As part of this physical/ brand remodelling, Holt Renfrew Bloor has invited Brooklyn’s top buzz cutters, the Blind Barber, to host a pop-up barber shop. With locations in NYC and LA, the men’s hair specialists have previous and current fashion partnerships including New York Fashion Week, Knickerbocker MFG, and C. Chauchat. Besides performing the usual roster of barber services (including hair cuts, facial shaving, and beard trims), the Blind Barber locations in America also offer a complementary cocktail with every cut. Options range from the gin-based Batman, to a milagro tequila number named “Hot Heather.” Kind of makes you wish they were here forever, eh?

As noted on the Blind Barber website, they have, “created a concept that goes well beyond cuts, shaves and cocktails. By cultivating a product line, voice and destinations; Blind Barber has expanded into all realms of the modern gentleman: Fashion, Music, Lifestyle, Grooming and others.” Sounds like the direction Holt Renfrew wants to go in, wouldn’t you say?
The Blind Barber will be at the Holt Renfrew flagship (50 Bloor Street West) until Saturday, November 15, offering complementary cuts to all customers.
