When my good friend Eileen Tsoumaris called to tell me that her family’s entertainment company, Uniq Lifestyle, was opening a new restaurant called The Bowery, I immediately wanted to check it out. First, having lived in NYC and a Bowery Bar regular I hoped a similar vibe was coming to Toronto. Secondly, all Uniq venues are cool and always, well – unique.
The concept of The Bowery is punk meets farm – mission accomplished. The vibe is casual cool leaving you with a feeling that you’re in a happening place. The friendly servers definitely have that young hipster edge while also making us feel at home upon arrival. The food? With Chef Tawfik Shehata at the helm, they deliver country flavours using simple ingredients and combinations. The best part is the charcoal grill – who doesn’t like charcoal grilled food? My favourite menu item is the foie gras scotch egg – a very unique menu item that will surely separate The Bowery from others.
Check out the vlog… Sam and I go to town on The Bowery menu – don’t judge us! 🙂
