The Royal Ontario Museum, colloquially known as the ROM, is bringing back one of its most exciting series this fall: the after-dark parties. Guests can take in the museum in a whole different fashion, exploring specific installations and spaces with music, dancing and drinks for an experience that’s both educational and experiential. The museum’s parties went on a short hiatus because of the pandemic, but are now back in full swing with a lot to celebrate. Read on to find out about the festivities that are happening this fall.
About ROM After Dark
The festivities begin at 7:30 p.m. after the ROM closes to the general public, and last until 11:30 p.m. Each late-night event includes curated music, visual arts installations, and an array of pop-up performances alongside theme-inspired food and beverages that are available for purchase at $10 per item. The monthly series offers tickets for purchase online, and the price of attending an after-dark party at Canada’s most-visited museum runs at $40 (or $36 for patrons/members). A drink and a free coat check are included in the pricing. Of course, each ticket also allows visitors full access to the museum, including every ROM exhibit and installation. It’s important to note, though, that tickets can’t be purchased at the door, so buying them in advance is crucial to checking out The Royal Ontario Museum‘s unique experience.
The first event of the ROM’s series happened at the end of September and was themed after an exhibition featuring women artists from the Islamic world and beyond. The party showcased belly dancing, tarot card readings, a comedy showcase, large-scale games, and henna artist booths. Upcoming, themed after-dark events include a Trick or Treat event on Oct. 27, On the Wildside on Nov. 24, and a New Year’s Eve party on Dec. 31.
