One of Toronto’s most famous restaurants has finally opened up a second location after over 3 decades of being in the city! Salad King is taking on Queen St. as of last week when the doors opened at this new spot. Popular among Ryerson students as the place to get quick, cheap and delicious Thai cuisine, their other restaurant’s popularity on Yonge St. has inspired a new location. Transforming what used to be a Captain’s Boil at the corner of Queen and McCaul, this spot is now the home of the kingdom’s latest expansion.

Salad King 2.0
The new location at 224 Queen St. is a compliment to the Yonge St. restaurant and has opened with essentially the same menu, but will eventually begin to focus on new dishes in the future. Fan favourites like the Panang Curry, Evil Jungle Prince and the legendary Phud Thai are of course still on the menu and a new signature dish, Crispy Beef Panang, will soon be showcased. Salad King is an easy joint to be loyal to as they have dishes that have stayed consistent for decades and they stay true to their brand.
We may not be able to enjoy the interior of this beautiful new restaurant anytime soon, but we cannot wait until we can. The design is just as bright and bold as the Yonge St. location, both designed by interior designer Sai Leung, a former Ryerson student and avid frequenter of Salad King. Dining here is slightly more sophisticated than the communal style set-up of the Yonge St. location but still has a relaxed feel. The epic mural, done by Office Bureau, showcases the restaurant’s timeline of the past 30 years.
Salad King on Queen is available for pickup or delivery through Ritual, while the Yonge St. location offers UberEats and SkipTheDishes services as well. To show support for front-line workers, Salad King is offering 20% off for all those working in health care for the entire month of April!
